Day 7: Ways to present news!
Day 7: Ways to present news:
- we have to think of output in news presentation.
- plan for the expected to cope with the unexpected.
Metaphor: Live news program is like a battle, you have general as editors, colonel as producers, lieutenant, soldiers are reporters. Editors need to think how we can win in the battlefield. No point to get weak soldiers, we need strong reporters.
Weakness in the newsroom: no decision to design how to present the story. When pitching the story just talking about, ลงเสียง ข่าวอ่าน หรือ โอบี
If in the newsroom, there is no decision making, when deadline approaching it is just ข่าวอ่าน. problems of ข่าวอ่าน is newspaper with picture.
So far, we have script writer and tell producers to find footage.
But, where is visual to tell stories, where is TV reporter.
The story which is the best might be something end up with the script.
We end up having news too much about news conference.
No magic wand to make a story good in last minute. For us, everything is a rush. Then we expect the producer to produce perfect package. Most,of the problems have to do with production. We need to heave time on pre- production.
Pre-production: to provide news to audience.
- we are in the business of communications, we are communicators.
Elements of communicating: for news coverage
1. Presenter who will tell the audience, story breaks ex: water pipeline poisonous.
Producers have to think of how to present it without VDO, without picture.
2. Presenter voice
3. Visuals /Graphic
4. Natural sound (nat sot)
5.reporter voice
6. Interviews
7. Stand-up
